Build your own - DIY

Tesla Android is fully open source, you are welcome to run our software on your own Hardware. If you're willing to tinker you can get a decent experience, but our hardware is superior thanks to external Wi-Fi/LTE antennas and real time clock modules (starting with Tesla Android 2nd generation)

Vehicle compatibility

Note: MCU 1 (cars previous to March 2018 without an infotainment upgrade) are not supported, as the built-in browser is out of date and too slow.

Vehicles with MCU 2 are supported, but MCU 3 (2022+) cars are recommended for a smooth experience.

Software installation

All you need to do is burn our image to an SD Card! Follow our instructions
You can also get the SD Card with Tesla Android image in our store.

Recommended hardware

Raspberry Pi 4	Main device for running Android. 4GB of RAM recommended
Heatsink for Raspberry Pi 4	Argon Fan, ICE Tower CPU Cooling Fan or a PWM solution from Waveshare

Huawei E3372	Optional LTE modem, can be replaced with a different model that works on Raspbian out of the box. The modem is required if you plan on using Premium Connectivity features like online routing alongside Tesla Android. Can be purchased here: https://teslaandroid.com/products/lte-modem-e3372h
